Norwegian pronunciation course​

Welcome to NorFon: an online course designed to guide you through Norwegian pronunciation, sound by sound, word by word, and phrase by phrase.

What does the course look like?

Whatever your pronunciation challenge may be, NorFon helps you work through it step by step: from individual sounds, through stress and rhythm, to natural phrases and complete texts. With each module, you move closer to clear and confident Norwegian speech.

Course structure

The course is divided into modules, each designed as a complete learning block, guiding you step by step from individual sounds to words, rhythm, and ultimately natural speech in phrases and texts.
You may follow the modules in sequence for a structured learning experience, or select any module according to your needs.
Each module consists of three sections, allowing you to focus on a particular aspect of pronunciation:

Section 1. Sounds and sound combinations
Focus on the foundations of pronunciation: vowels, consonants, long and short sounds, and sound combinations, as well as the relationship between spelling and pronunciation.

Section 2. Rhythm and pitch accent
Explore the musicality of Norwegian: word stress, pitch accent, rhythm, and how sounds interact in connected speech.

Section 3. Phrases and texts
Develop natural speech: intonation, sentence stress, phrases, texts, and fluency through practices such as shadowing and repetition.

You may work through all the sections in sequence, or focus on the one that best suits your needs.
Each theme includes one or more tasks, designed to provide focused, practical training in real skills such as listening comprehension, pronunciation, and the ability to perceive rhythm, pitch accent, and sentence stress.

Is this course for me?

You might be just starting to learn Norwegian and want to sound right. Or maybe you already know the grammar, have a good vocabulary, and even speak or work in Norwegian, but still notice that:

  • people ask you to repeat;
  • your speech sounds unclear or unnatural
  • you find it hard to catch certain details when listening

For individual users

To start the course, visit the registration link and click “Take this Course”. During registration, provide your payment information using Stripe. Once payment is complete, you’ll receive course access. Automatic charges occur every 31 days, starting from your registration date.

For enterprise clients

Enterprises can request group access for students by providing the following information to info@oratastic.eu: company/organization name, contact person, address, number of students, a list of their emails, and the required access duration (e.g., 6 months). Feel free to ask us any questions regarding a potential agreement. 

Once the agreement is finalized and payment is made, we will provide you with a list of access vouchers containing student nicknames and passcodes. Each student can start using their access at any time, and the usage period begins on the day of their registration. Access to the course will expire for each student at the agreed-upon time.

Ferdig læreropplegg til uttalekurs

Vi har et ferdig opplegg som består av presentasjoner for 16-20 skoletimer med flere hundre lysark. Lærerveiledning med mange forslag til aktiviteter i klasserommet til hver undervisningsbolk og tips om uttaleundervisning følger også med. Materialet fra opplegget kan med stort hell også inkluderes i generell norskundervisning. Dersom det er ønskelig, kan vi også arrangere kurs i uttaleundervisning.
Tilgang til opplegget koster 6000 kroner i året per lærer (ved flere enn 10 lærere er det lavere pris), og det kan brukes i kombinasjon med elevressursen NorFon til lekser.
Læreropplegget har allerede vært i bruk ved voksenopplæringa i Oslo kommune i to år.
